Monday -- Students took a Map Quiz. Afterwards, they read "Africa's Religious & Ethnic Groups" (click here) and took 5 notes on each of the 4 groups [Ashanti, Arab, Swahili, Bantu] for a total of 20 notes. Then they worked on makeup work.
Tuesday -- Students opened class with the "What Would You Wait For?" Opener (click here). Students read 1 of 3 articles on Positive Things in Africa (article 1, article 2, article 3) and shared the information with those that read different articles in a triple venn diagram. If you are absent, you should annotate at least 1 of these 3 articles to get credit. I also handed out the study guides. There are 2 different versions. Most students got version 1, but any student can do both study guides for extra credit (study guide 1, study guide 2). FOR HOMEWORK, students need 2 of the 6 sections in study guide 1, or 1/4 of the wheel in study guide 2, finished by the time they come to class Wednesday.
Wednesday -- Students worked on their study guide for the Unit 3 Test tomorrow.
Thursday -- Students took a test on Sub-Saharan Africa. After everyone was done, they started a movie: Hotel Rwanda or Rising From the Ashes (based on availability).
Friday -- Students watched Hotel Rwanda or Rising From the Ashes (based on availability).
