Monday -- We finished our game and students answered the following questions as entry number 3 in their notebook:
•Answer the following questions in COMPLETE SENTENCES –
•What was your strategy while playing? What country was your biggest obstacle to success? Why? (4 sentences)
•What do you think is the most important natural resource in the Middle East? Why? (2 sentences)
•Using examples from your game, how do climate, natural resources, and land/water features impact population density? (4 sentences)
If students were absent for the game or could not play the game for behavior reasons, they should read p. 491-499 in the textbook and answer the end-of-section questions 3a,b,c.
Additionally, students took notes on a prezi about ethnicity & religions in the Middle East. Here is the link to the prezi (click there). This is entry #4 in the notebook. 5 question check quiz at the end of class.
Tuesday -- Students started on their Middle East Ethnicity & Religions project. They can work on this at home by going to their google classroom (click there).

Wednesday -- Students continued working on their group project.
Thursday -- Students tried to find a way to have all of the countries in the middle east sit in the same "classroom", using the "Middle East Friendship Chart" (#5). 1st & 3rd block: They took notes on each others' group presentations (#6). 4th block: Watched a movie "Mixed up in the Middle East" and answered the following discussion questions 1. What is it like for Reya to be mixed Arab/Jewish in Israel? 2.How does the ethnic conflic in Israel compare to the way that several ethnic groups/races live together in the US? 5 question check quiz at the end of class.
Friday -- Students analyzed the "Bikini Burka Cartoon" (#7) and argued their approval or disapproval of the artist's statement. They annotated their Current Event Awareness packets (Turned in as a project). They then wrote a 6-word-summary of what they learned today on a post-it and put in on a poster in the back of class
